LQF covers stages of education starting from the basic education (level 1 – special basic education) to the highest education (level 8 – doctoral studies).

Level of professional qualification
Till 1 august 2022 in Latvia had a system of five professional qualifications levels (PQL, 1 – the lowest, 5 – the highest).

PQL system covers only professional qualifications (basic education, secondary and higher education stages).

PQL reflects readiness of a person to perform work of certain stage of complexity and responsibility.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.

In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).

Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.

    3.10. labour protection (individual safety means, safety signs and signals);
    3.11. fire safety rules (action in case of the fire);

  • Skills

    1. Cooperate and listen to the leading specialist and other specialist’s instructions.
    2. Put in order work place before the work, assess its readiness for the work, maintain it in order during the work.
    3. Distinguish tree species, wood material types.
    4. Recognise wood materials and compliance with the work task to be performed.
    5. Read simple timber product drawings and understand technical labels and professional terms.
    6. Use woodworking measuring instruments.
    7. Mechanically treat wood materials with the set woodworking equipment, electrical and hand tools.
    8. Perform non-mechanised wood material
    9. Glue wood materials.
    10. Maintain in order wood material equipment, electrical and hand tools.
    11. Produce simple timber products.
    12. Work in a team by complying with basic principles of professional and general ethics.
    13. Comply with work safety requirements set in laws and regulations.
    14. Use appropriate work clothes and individual protection means.
    15. Use in the woodworking equipment necessary safety devices and auxiliary equipment.
    16. Perform work independently and be responsible for own work result.
    17. Provide the first aid.
    18. Comply with environment protection requirements set in laws and regulations.
    19. Comply with employment regulations.
    20. Know the official language.
    21. Use professional terminology in the official language.

  • Competences/ autonomy

    1. Ability to recognise raw material compliance for the work task performance and work with the woo cutting tool appropriate for the wood treatment.
    2. Ability to perform mechanised appliance of the chemical wood protection materials and glue the workpieces.
    3. Ability mechanically treat the wood by using for the work prepared woodworking equipment in accordance with the work task requirements.
    4. Ability to use measuring instruments and other technical means to perform control measurement.
    5. Ability to read simple drawings of timber products’ constructions and workpieces.
    6. Ability to maintain in order woodworking equipment.
    7. Ability to perform work in under the direct management of the qualified specialist and by complying with basic principles of professional and general ethics.
    8. Ability to use appropriate work clothes and individual protection means.
    9. Ability to understand and comply with work safety requirements set in las and regulations, perform work duties without doing harm for own and other persons’ health.
    10. Ability to understand and comply with environment protection requirements set in laws and regulations when performing work duties.
    11. Ability to prepare work place for work performance and maintain the order.
    12. Ability to comply with employment regulations.
    13. Ability to provide the first aid.
    14. Ability to communicate in the official language.
    15. Ability to perform work independently and be responsible for own work result.
