Latvian Qualifications Framework (LQF) has 8 levels (1 – the lowest, 8 – the highest).

Levels reflect the complexity level of acquired knowledge, skills and competences (learning outcomes).

LQF covers stages of education starting from the basic education (level 1 – special basic education) to the highest education (level 8 – doctoral studies).

Level of professional qualification
Latvia has a system of five professional qualifications levels (PQL, 1 – the lowest, 5 – the highest).

PQL system covers only professional qualifications (basic education, secondary and higher education stages).

PQL reflects readiness of a person to perform work of certain stage of complexity and responsibility.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.

In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).

Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.

    5. To perform document sending, receiving, and registration.
    6. To make the necessary official marks on documents.
    7. To control document deadlines.
    8. To prepare and approve documentation derivatives.
    9. To systematize and file documents according to the nomenclature of the company affairs and ensure their conservation until they are transferred to the company’s archive.
    10. To organize business trips and prepare trip documents.
    11. To organize visitor reception, business meetings, presentations, and other arrangements.
    12. To perform preparation and protocoling of sessions, meetings, conferences, and other arrangements.
    13. To master business writing.
    14. To collect and use information by using the latest information technologies.
    15. To know the competence of the company’s functionaries in information use, provision and protecting, to comply with the protection and confidentiality of information at work.  
    16. To recognize and use office equipment.
    17. To know ergonomics by building a safe and comfortable environment at work.
    18. To observe the hygiene requirements.
    19. To observe the principles of professional ethics.
    20. To manage business ethics and general standards of courtesy.
    21. To communicate, cooperate, and build positive communication with customer and colleagues.
    22. To plan and organize your own work.
    23. To perform work independently and in a team.
    24. To make decisions according to your own competence.

    26. To find solutions in the event of problem issues according to your own competence.

Qualifications can be acquired in the framework of education programs or in the evaluation and recognition of non-formal knowledge, skills and competences acquired (in vocational education LKI Levels 2-4).

The unit of the volume of Latvian higher education studies - 1 credit point corresponds to one week of study work in full-time studies (40 credit points per study year).
