The programme is;

– aimed at providing students with an opportunity of acquiring theoretical knowledge and research skills in history and the history of culture that gives an opportunity of further professional and academic education.

 Within the programme the following knowledge and skills have been acquired and developed:

– understanding of the world history and the history of culture trends of development in the period of ancient times, Middle Ages, new and modern age periods as well as of the history/culture of Latvia and Latgale, fundamentals of history source theory and methodology of history research, skills of criticism and research literature analysis as well as those of studying the testimonials of the past, compiling them and public representation of them;

– production of research work applying diverse research methods.
