Levels reflect the complexity level of acquired knowledge, skills and competences (learning outcomes).

LQF covers stages of education starting from the basic education (level 1 – special basic education) to the highest education (level 8 – doctoral studies).

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.

In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).

Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.

As a result after studying the study programme, the graduate:
1. Acquires extensive knowledge and understanding of current research in the humanities and arts, an idea of the historical context of current research in the field.
2. Well versed in the latest discoveries and achievements in the professional fields of audiovisual, theater and contemporary dance arts.
3. Orients oneself in the historical development processes of audiovisual and performing arts in Latvia and the world.
4. Well versed in the historical development and actualities of the theoretical and critical thought of audiovisual and performing arts.
5. Understands the interaction between the fields of audiovisual and performing arts, knows how to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in research and creative work.
6. Can independently use humanities theories and methods to carry out research or artistic activity.
7. Able to reasonedly explain and qualitatively implement the ideas of one’s creativity and research work, analyze the results of one’s work.
8. Acquired the ability to discuss topical, complex and systemic aspects of humanities and arts.
9. Able to independently promote the improvement of his competences and specialization.
10. Having acquired the skills to work in a team, they are able to take responsibility for the results of the work of the staff involved in their artistic or research activities and analyze them.
11. Able to innovate and apply new approaches in the humanities and arts sector and in their profession.
12. Able to carry out artistic work and research in complex and unpredictable conditions and, if necessary, transform them by using new approaches.
13. Able to independently formulate and critically analyze complex scientific and professional problems in audiovisual and performing arts research and artistic creativity, justify decisions and perform additional analysis.
14. Able to integrate knowledge about the essential aspects of audiovisual and performing arts, contribute to the creation of new knowledge, development of research and professional activity methods.
15. Demonstrates understanding and ethical responsibility for the possible impact of the results of scientific and professional activities on the environment and society.

Qualification acquisition requirements

Previous education
Higher education qualification of LQF level 6 (academic or professional bachelor) in the same or compatible branch of science or professional field laid down by higher education Institution
Ways to acquire 
Qualifications can be acquired in the framework of education programs or in the evaluation and recognition of non-formal knowledge, skills and competences acquired (in vocational education LKI Levels 2-4).

ECTS credit points 
Snice 11.10.2022 60 credit points correspond to the study results acquired in full-time studies in one academic year in accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).Since 11.10.2022

Till 11.10.2022 1 Latvian credit point corresponds to 1,5 ECTS credit point.
