Levels reflect the complexity level of acquired knowledge, skills and competences (learning outcomes).

LQF covers stages of education starting from the basic education (level 1 – special basic education) to the highest education (level 8 – doctoral studies).

Level of professional qualification
Till 1 august 2022 in Latvia had a system of five professional qualifications levels (PQL, 1 – the lowest, 5 – the highest).

PQL system covers only professional qualifications (basic education, secondary and higher education stages).

PQL reflects readiness of a person to perform work of certain stage of complexity and responsibility.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.

In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).

Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.

    1. To have a good knowledge of the basic principles and genres of drama.
    2. To have a good knowledge of dramaturgical analysis.
    3. To know the basics of psychology of the creative process.
    4. To know the basic principles of dialogue writing.
    5. To analyse and select the required information.
    6. To plan and organize one’s work in accordance with the task.
    7. To collaborate with specialists involved in the project.
    8. To organize one’s work area.
    9. To have a good knowledge of the basic principles of audiovisual work and event planning processes.
    10. To understand the specifics of documentary and video art work.
    11. To understand the basic principles of artistic image making.
    12. To know the main genres of audiovisual work and events.
    13. To know the different audiovisual formats and specifics thereof.
    14. To know the specifics of contemporary audiovisual media.
    15. To know the contemporary audiovisual language.
    16. To understand the principles of video and film editing.
    17. To understand the basics of an operator’s work.
    18. To know the official language.
    19. To know two foreign languages at a communication level.
    20. To use standards and symbols of the audio-visual industry.
    21. To use theoretical knowledge in practice.
    22. To gain insight into and apply in practice acquired knowledge regarding contemporary creative solutions.
    23. To use professional terminology in the official language and one foreign language.

Ways to acquire 
Qualifications can be acquired in the framework of education programs or in the evaluation and recognition of non-formal knowledge, skills and competences acquired (in vocational education LKI Levels 2-4).
