Latvian Qualifications Framework (LQF) has 8 levels (1 – the lowest, 8 – the highest).

Levels reflect the complexity level of acquired knowledge, skills and competences (learning outcomes).

LQF covers stages of education starting from the basic education (level 1 – special basic education) to the highest education (level 8 – doctoral studies).

Level of professional qualification
Till 1 august 2022 in Latvia had a system of five professional qualifications levels (PQL, 1 – the lowest, 5 – the highest).

PQL system covers only professional qualifications (basic education, secondary and higher education stages).

PQL reflects readiness of a person to perform work of certain stage of complexity and responsibility.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.

In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).

Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.

The aim of the study programme is:
– to provide students with the opportunity to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills of business administration;
– to contribute to further personal development of students and to prepare competent, internationally competitive specialists who are able to administer enterprises or structural divisions in accordance with the requirements of the modern market, applying their professional knowledge and skills and demonstrating competence in management, problem solving, and making responsible decisions in practice.

Planned learning outcomes:
The study programme graduates:
– know how to analyse business and management processes;
– know how to analyse equation systems, analyse  the characteristics of a function when the function is assigned analytically or graphically, to calculate limits, derive and integrate using the simplest methods;
– know how to apply the acquired methods of sociological research, and to develop tools relating to the methods and the topic of the research;
– know how to communicate orally and in writing in business related situations;
– know how to apply specific terminology in verbal and written polemic discussion;
– know how to calculate taxes, fixed assets depreciation, cost, perform overall balance analysis, to determine the indicators of the efficiency of an enterprise;
– know how to deal with conflict situations, organise and manage business meetings;
– know how to organise and manage team work to achieve specific objectives;
– know how to independently organise and plan his or her work in accordance with the duties to be performed;
– know how to characterise, reveal and evaluate the activities of the researched object, the possible disproportions;
– are able to put forward economically justified and socially responsible proposals for business development;
– are able to independently plan, implement and evaluate activities for the the rational use of resources and the achievement of strategic goals;
– are able to represent a company’s interests independently, acting in relevant organisations, and reaching an agreement between the parties concerned;
– are able to use the acquired knowledge in business management in compliance with the set strategic and operational objectives, follow the progress of  their achievement, make decisions and perform adjustments to optimise operational and strategic activities;
– are able to independently use modern information technologies to address business and management issues;
– are able to perform professional activities, formulate and analyse information, solve problems and find solutions applying scientific approach, as well as to make robust decisions;
– are able to independently obtain, select and analyse information, to apply scientific research methods;
– are able to take responsibility, to work in a team, delegate authority and coordinate the fulfilment of duties, to effectively plan and organise his or her work, as well as to solve problem situations;
– are able to conduct a reasoned debate on the issues of business and its regulatory enactments in Latvian and in foreign languages with specialists and other parties concerned;
– are able to act ethically and are aware of the responsibility for the impact of professional activities on the environment and society.

Ways to acquire 
Qualifications can be acquired in the framework of education programs or in the evaluation and recognition of non-formal knowledge, skills and competences acquired (in vocational education LKI Levels 2-4).

Snice 11.10.2022 60 credit points correspond to the study results acquired in full-time studies in one academic year in accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).Since 11.10.2022
