The aim of the study programme is to prepare competent, internationally competitive tourism industry specialists who are able to administer enterprises or structural divisions in accordance with the requirements of the modern market, to solve problems and make responsible decisions based on their competence.
Planned learning outcomes:
The study programme graduates:
– are able to evaluate the nature of practical business problems, their theoretical causes, as well as to find the most scientifically grounded, efficient and optimal solutions to problems;
– know how to analyse business and management processes, to analyse the factors of internal and external environment, to determine their impact on management decision-making;
– know how to establish and manage tourism companies and organisations, their structural divisions and employees;
– know how to apply the means of effective communication in business related situations;
– know how to calculate taxes, fixed assets depreciation, cost, perform overall balance analysis, to determine the indicators of the efficiency of an enterprise;
– know how to deal with conflict situations, organise and manage business meetings;
– know how to organise and manage team work to achieve specific objectives;
– are able to develop and offer new tourist products, to organise their implementation and production;
– are able to put forward economically justified and socially responsible proposals for business development;
– are able to independently plan the rational use of resources to achieve strategic goals;
– are able to represent a company’s interests independently, acting in relevant organisations, and reaching an agreement between the parties concerned;
– are able to independently use modern information technologies to address business and management issues;
– are able to independently obtain, select and analyse information, to apply scientific research methods;
– are able to take responsibility, to work in a team, delegate authorities and coordinate the fulfilment of duties, to effectively plan and organise his or her work;
– are able to conduct a reasoned debate on the issues of tourism and entrepreneurship in Latvian and in foreign languages with specialists and other parties concerned;
– are able to act ethically and are aware of the responsibility for the impact of professional activities on the environment and society.
