Latvian Qualifications Framework (LQF) has 8 levels (1 – the lowest, 8 – the highest).
Levels reflect the complexity level of acquired knowledge, skills and competences (learning outcomes).
LQF covers stages of education starting from the basic education (level 1 – special basic education) to the highest education (level 8 – doctoral studies).

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.
In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).
Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.
To acquire theoretical courses of business administration matching the relevant sub- branch of administration science;
– to develop and successfully defend two course papers and to master the elective part of courses in other sciences;
– to acquire methods of research in sub- branches of management science, to carry out independent research and present the result in the Bachelor’ thesis;
– to study the compulsory elective part which includes study courses of administration science and the related disciplines by individual sub-programmes.
In the sub-programme “Business Information Management” student gains an comprehension about the use of Information Technologies for business support and development as well as about the importance of business information management;
– to acquire a knowledge about the development, maintenance and support of organization’s information systems, about the entrepreneurship organization in the global web, about the competitors’ and business intelligence and data analysis;
– to acquire skills for the business problem identification, solution development and implementation using modern information and communication technologies as well as the business intelligence tools and methods, business process modelling, visualization methods and techniques.
In the sub-programme“Economic Informatics” student gains an comprehension about the use of Information Technologies for business support and development as well as about the importance of Business information management;
– to acquire a knowledge about the development, maintenance and support of organization’s information system, about the entrepreneurship organization in a global web, about the competitors’ and Business intelligence and data analysis;
– to acquire skills for the business problem identification, solution development and implementation using modern information and communication technologies as well as the modelling and visualization methods and techniques.
In the sub-programme “Quality management” student acquire knowledge of internationally recognized quality management systems and models, product and process quality management practices;
– to acquire skills to analyze the production and marketing process, as well as certification opportunities for various organizations;
– to obtain practical skills to apply the knowledge for creating, maintaining, evaluating and improving the quality management systems.
In the sub-programme “Marketing” student acquire knowledge about planning and organizing development, distribution, promotion and sale of goods and services to meet customer needs;
– being able to apply theoretical knowledge and research methods to marketing in enterprises operating in any industry.
In the sub-programme “Organization management” student acquires theoretical knowledge about business management, which allows realizing management functions in different levels of management, to develop personal skills and the ability to take leadership;
– to be able to solve topical problems of business management, to gain skills to identify the topical problems and to solve them effectively by applying the modern methods of research. Identifying the main problems in management, learning to solve conflict issues using the modern methods of research.
In the sub-programme “Local Government Organization” comprises courses on financial accounting, Latvian economy, budget of local authorities, state budget, history of economic theories, politology, territorial information systems, etc.
In the sub-programme “Public Administration” student acquires theoretical knowledge, to gain an understanding and the soft skills for work in the public sector – government, municipal institutions and non-governmental organizations, to ensure the social responsibility and effective work of these institutions;
– to acquire knowledge about the multi-level governance, including the European Union and its institutions;
– to develop organizational and research skills, for deeper understanding of organizations, seeking innovative approaches to development and better use of human potential.
In the sub-programme “Production Management” consists of courses on financial accounting, management of the labour market, analysis of business activities, strategic and operational planning, economics of labour resources, financing of business activity, etc.
In the sub-programme “International Business” prepares specialists with wide theoretical and practical knowledge for efficient activity in the changing business environment under conditions of globalization and internationalization.
Students acquire skills to adapt to rapid changes in the market and to take efficient and unordinary decisions as well as understanding about the peculiarities if international business management in different countries.
The students work out independent research projects during the study process, participate in discussions and international students conferences.
“International Economic Relations” student gains knowledge of international economics and entrepreneurship, international finance and marketing, as well as acquires skills in the field of regulation of foreign trade and international banking.
Study courses help to understand the important aspects of economics:
– functional principles and trends of today’s global economy;
– identify the role of particular countries in the world’s market;
– to assess the competitive advantage of countries and their development perspectives.
During the study process student develops independent research projects, participates in debates and international student conferences.
In the sub-programme “Marketing” student acquire knowledge about planning and organizing development, distribution, promotion and sale of goods and services to meet customer needs;
– being able to apply theoretical knowledge and research methods to marketing in enterprises operating in any industry.
In the sub-programme “Tourism and hospitality management” student acquires a broad knowledge and understanding of the tourism industry processes.
In addition to theoretical knowledge students acquire practical skills in various projects for implementation of the sector of hotels, tourist attractions, research and development of creating new tourism products.
Acquired skills and abilities:
– the understanding of the functioning system in the tourism industry, which is particularly important in Latvia;
– knowledge and practical skills to assess and analyze the impact of tourism on economic, social, natural and cultural environment, revealing the positive and negative aspects of developing tourism industry;
– to prepare for work in tourism industry and related government institutions.
In the sub-programme “Environment and entrepreneurship” student master methods of management, foundations of environmental economics theory;
– to learn the functioning principles of the market economy and the possibilities of their modelling;
– to develop practical skills in contemporary business management and environmental problem-solving, information processing and analysis, modelling of socio-economic processes and forecasting.
