What is the difference between professional qualification and the qualifications included in this Database?
Saskaņā According to the Vocational Education Law, Latvian education system has five levels of professional qualifications demonstrating “theoretical and practical preparedness allowing performing work compliant with certain degree of complexity and responsibility”. Therefore, the Latvian professional qualification levels are applicable only to professional education (from the stage of basic education to the higher education), and they are not automatically referenced to the LQF/EQF levels.
Within the context of Latvian Qualifications Framework and this Database, the meaning of qualifications has been expanded and it applies to the entire education system, covering all types of education and formal certificates.
How can I clarify to which EQF level a foreign qualification complies in Latvia?

Why is this Database unique?
Latvian Qualifications Database is the only Database in Latvia where data of qualifications referenced to the Latvian Qualifications Framework (LQF) are gathered.
Latvian Qualifications Database does not reflect information of education opportunities in the country. Information on education opportunities available in the education institutions is available in the National Database of Education Opportunities created by the State Education Development Agency.
What qualifications are available in this Database?
Database contains qualifications which can be obtained when completing accredited education programmes in accredited education institutions, thus, these qualifications recognised by the state.
Information on accredited education institutions and programmes is available in Valsts State Education Information System (VIIS).
