Level of professional qualification
Till 1 august 2022 in Latvia had a system of five professional qualifications levels (PQL, 1 – the lowest, 5 – the highest).

PQL system covers only professional qualifications (basic education, secondary and higher education stages).

PQL reflects readiness of a person to perform work of certain stage of complexity and responsibility.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes are knowledge, skills and competences acquired during a certain period of learning.

In Latvia, learning outcomes are stipulated by state education standards and occupational standards (for the professional qualifications).

Learning outcomes of higher education are defined by higher education institutions.

  • Skills

    1. To distinguish tree species, types of wood and materials of wood boards, to determine their use possibilities.
    2. Determine the compliance of wood raw materials with the work order.
    3. To evaluate the quality of wood materials for computer-aided processing woodworking machinery.
    4. Determine the wood raw material required for execution of the order quantity and amount of work.
    5. Evaluate the technical state of computerized woodworking equipment.
    6. Use computerized woodworking equipment.
    7. Compare the existing and necessary computerized woodworking equipment settings.
    8. Use templates for computerized woodworking equipment.
    9. Select and use measuring instruments for a computerized woodworking machine

    10. Make corrections in the computerized woodworking equipment management program
    according to the measurement of the production control.

    3. Ability to identify woodworking raw materials suitable for work.
    4. Ability to determine and select appropriate material to be processed for wood cutting tools to fulfill the work order.
    5. Ability to determine computer-readable woodworking machine readiness for work.
    6. Ability to use specialized software for computer-aided woodworking equipment and implement corrective treatment programs in accordance with the performed control measurements.
    7. Ability to determine and evaluate the conformity of woodworking raw materials with labor task, prepare the job according to the technological process.
    8. Ability to manage computerized woodworking machinery, provide it monitor and perform routine maintenance.
    9. Ability to choose and fit the work task appropriately necessary auxiliaries and safety devices.
    10. Ability to choose appropriate measuring instruments and other technical means for performing control measurements.
    11. Ability to read product design drawings and technical documentation.
    12. Ability to continuously evaluate computer aided wood processing machine accessories, safety equipment and cutting tools.
    13. Ability to use databases, technical documentation and others sources of information and get acquainted with the latest technologies, tools and specialized woodworking software.
    14. Ability to understand and comply with labor protection requirements, to work duties, without prejudice to the health and safety of others, to choose and use suitable work clothes and personal protective equipment, recognize and respond appropriately to security signals and signs.
    15. Ability to observe fire safety and environmental protection requirements.
    16. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your work the result.

Qualifications can be acquired in the framework of education programs or in the evaluation and recognition of non-formal knowledge, skills and competences acquired (in vocational education LKI Levels 2-4).
